A drabble! Without a challenge! Go me!

Title: Testing a Hypothesis
Wizard/Witch: Blaise Zabini/Daphne Greengrass
Rating/Warnings: PG/PG-13
Word Count: Exactly 200

*~*

"I think I finally figured out why the Sorting Hat placed you in Slytherin."

"What are you on about, Blaise?" Daphne questioned, rolling her eyes at his non sequitur. The pair was strolling through Belgravia's Fortune Square, home to London's most elegant Wizarding shops, and had been discussing gift options for his mother's birthday.

"I always secretly thought you should be in Hufflepuff, but--" Blaise halted as Daphne sucked in her breath sharply, her eyes flashing in anger.

Daphne spun to confront her lover, but Blaise was suddenly facing her, towering over her 5'7" frame. Ready to fight, Daphne continued to glare as Blaise slowly backed her against the nearby stone-walled building.

"You'd better explain yourself, Zabini." Daphne demanded, her arms folding to hold him at bay.

"It's just that," Blaise began, his eyes dancing over her defensive posture, "when you get angry or excited..." Blaise moved closer to whisper in her ear. "You sort of hiss."

"I do no such--" Daphne's retort morphed into the sudden passage of air through clenched teeth as she felt Blaise's hot hand beneath her camisole.

"I told you so." Blaise's warm breath touched her ear before his smirking lips met hers.

A/N: Just my typical Blaise/Daphne snarkiness. I thought Blaise was pretty clever in coming up with this one. ;) He certainly tested his hypothesis well. This plot bunny hopped in while I was supposed to be working. Well, mostly I was daydreaming, and this is what surfaced, lol.

I'm still not completely satisfied with it; but for the parts I think should be changed, I can't think how to do it.

FYI: BZ doesn't actually think DG s/h/b a Hufflepuff. Of course she's in Slytherin!
